During November 4 to November 12, 2017 religious education students and staff organized a Box of Joy campaign for Cross Catholic Outreach. Parish members and Sacred Heart School were invited to join in collecting boxes to be sent to those in severe poverty in Haiti, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Thanks to a team effort, 90 boxes will be sent to children who wish for just one gift this Christmas. If you missed sending a box and wish to help Cross Catholic Outreach, go to CrossCatholic.org/BoxOfJoy

The rain showers dissipated on October 14, 2017 to allow a public rosary rally to be held on the grounds of Sacred Heart Parish near 12th St and Story St. This event was held in conjunction with other rallies around the world as requested by Our Lady during the Apparitions at Fatima. The special intentions were for peace in our world and for reparation of sins. Thank you to the parishioners that organized this event and the clergy who were present, Deacons Darwin Messerly and Scott Steffen.

As you can imagine Sacred Heart is always in need of volunteers.  In addition to the time and talent sheet filled out at Mass we have created a smaller, more specific volunteer list for occasional jobs within the Parish and School.  Below you will find the link.  Please feel free to signup for as many areas that you feel you are able to help.
Questions about the list, please contact Deb Franzenburg at the Parish Offices.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone that contributed to Project Mississippi.  A total of 17 boxes were sent in honor of Sr. Rose Hacker and her dedication to Sacred Heart and Lexington, Mississippi.  It is wonderful to be a part of such a giving parish family.  We plan to continue this tradition on a yearly basis!

The restoration/repair of our windows is coming along very well. The dedicated and talented team of The Lambrecht Glass Studio in Omaha has done a terrific job taking care of our windows as they remove them and take them back to Omaha for repair and restoration. As of today we have restored of the 42 windows! Of those 30, 28 have been adopted, as well as 20 of the 25 segments of the large “Rose” window on the South side of the church. Thanks to the generous hearts of our parish family we have moved through the restoration and the end result is beautiful!!

Another blessing has come our way! The Legacy Campaign has received another gift of real estate! This beautiful plot of land is a lot located on Cedar Pointe Golf Course- Lot #4 in Golf Estates Subdivision, 1129 Southview Court and is ready to be sold! If you are interested call: Flynn Real Estate, Inc. 804 8th Street Boone, Iowa 50036 515-432-8860 ~ Licensed in Iowa since 2001 ~ Call Brian Byriel at 515-230-1834

Our Legacy moves on! Restoration of the stained glass windows is going well, one window at a time! Soon the East side of the church will be done. We now have 25 of the 42 windows fully adopted or partially adopted. Since we divided the large “Rose” window on the south side of the church we have had 6 pieces adopted--what a blessing! Call the Development Office for information on full or partial adoptions. Another small Phase of the HVAC system in school building was replaced over the Christmas break. There is now just one more phase to go and that project is finished.

February 1, 2016

We can happily report that we now have 21 windows fully adopted and 4 partially adopted! We also have 6 individual segments of the large “Rose” window that have been adopted! What a blessing these adoptions have been, as they have been above and beyond the campaign pledges! There are brochures on window adoption in the back entry of the church if you are interested. As we await for some warmer weather, the Lambrecht Glass Studio is working on the 8 windows they have taken, and with warmer weather, they will bring back the rest of the St. Ann window on the east side.

August 1, 2015

We are witnessing the benefits of our Legacy Campaign in many ways! The restoration of the stained glass windows has begun: our second set is in Omaha being worked on, soon to return! Over half of the windows have been adopted--what a blessing you all have been! We remind everyone that partial adoptions are available, just call the Development Office for information. Another way we cannot see, but certainly can feel the benefits is the replacement of the HVAC system in the school building!

July 1, 2015

The windows are back! A huge thanks to the Lambrecht Glass Studio for a great beginning to this wonderful project! The next set is in Omaha for yet another transformation!
Thanks to everyone for keeping up on your pledge payments!
That truly is what makes a campaign a success!

We are MOVING FORWARD!!

June 14, 2015

We got word on the stained glass windows this week! They are currently being re-leaded after a long wait for just the right replacement glass from a manufacturer. 125 year old glass is not easy to reproduce! There is a picture in the back of church!

April 1, 2015

We received a progress report on the two windows that are being restored! All the panels have been taken apart and the glass has been ordered that is needed for repairs. Some of the glass is special order so it will take another 3-4 weeks for that to come in.

April 2, 2014

Soon we will be formulating a plan for renovations for our facilities. Restoration of the stained glass windows will be a large part of the work needed on the church building. Several people have asked about donating to restore the stained glass windows. We have two estimates of what it would cost to restore the windows and a mapping of the windows, but need a third estimate. We also have limited information about the history of the windows.

September 12, 2013

The leadership of Sacred Heart is committed to being good stewards of parish finances and moving ahead with affordable facility projects. Communication and updates will continue to keep you informed throughout the campaign and the projects. It will be your generosity that will determine the success of the campaign and whether the projects are done all at once or in phases. Please carefully read through the Campaign Brochure.
